RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Recruitment 2026 Syllabus Released
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has officially published the detailed syllabus for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Recruitment Examination 2026 under CEN 01/2025 notification. Candidates who are preparing for the ALP examination can now check and download the official syllabus PDF along with the latest exam pattern, marking scheme, and subject-wise topics from the official RRB website at rrbcdg.gov.in. The syllabus is essential for candidates to plan their preparation strategy effectively.
The RRB ALP recruitment was notified on 09 January 2025 for a massive 9970 vacancies of Assistant Loco Pilot in Indian Railways across various zones. The application window was open from 10 January to 09 February 2025. The CBT-1 examination was conducted from 25 to 29 November 2025, and its result was declared on 25 April 2026. Candidates who qualified in CBT-1 are now eligible to appear in CBT-2, which is tentatively scheduled for July-August 2026. The Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) will be conducted in September 2026 for those who clear CBT-2.
The RRB ALP selection process includes four stages — CBT 1 (qualifying), CBT 2 (merit-deciding, with Part A and Part B), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT, qualifying), and Document Verification. The CBT-1 will have 75 questions of 75 marks in 60 minutes covering Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science, and General Knowledge. CBT-2 Part A will have 100 questions of 100 marks in 90 minutes, while Part B (qualifying) will have 75 questions of 75 marks in 60 minutes on relevant trade subjects. Each correct answer carries 1 mark and each wrong answer carries a penalty of 1/3 mark (negative marking).

The Mathematics section covers topics like Number System, BODMAS, LCM/HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, and Speed/Distance. The Reasoning section covers Analogies, Classification, Series, Coding-Decoding, and Problem Solving. General Science covers Physics, Chemistry, and Biology up to 10th standard. The trade-specific Part B covers subjects based on the candidate's ITI trade or Engineering discipline. Candidates should also practice previous year question papers and mock tests to get familiar with the exam pattern. The salary for Assistant Loco Pilot starts at Rs.19900-63200 per month plus running allowance, which takes the gross emolument to approximately Rs.45000-55000 per month.
