SBI Probationary Officer Recruitment 2026 Notification Released
State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest public sector bank with over 22000 branches across the country, has officially released the recruitment notification for the Probationary Officer (PO) post for the year 2026 on 24 June 2026. A total of 600 PO vacancies have been notified across various circles of SBI in India. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official SBI career portal at sbi.co.in/careers or through the IBPS portal at ibpsreg.ibps.in/sbipojun26/. The last date to apply is 14 July 2026.
The SBI PO position is one of the most prestigious and sought-after banking jobs in India, offering an excellent career growth opportunity at the largest public sector bank. Selected candidates will join as Probationary Officers (Junior Management Grade Scale-I) and will undergo a 2-year probation period during which they will receive training in various banking operations. After successful completion of probation, they will be confirmed as Assistant Managers. The pay scale for SBI PO starts at Rs.48480 per month (basic) with annual increments, plus DA, HRA, leased accommodation, and other allowances, taking the gross monthly emolument to approximately Rs.13-15 lakh per annum (CTC).
To be eligible for SBI PO 2026, candidates must have a Graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university. Final year graduation students can also apply provisionally, but they need to produce the graduation certificate at the time of interview. There is no minimum percentage criteria for graduation. The age limit is 21 to 30 years as on 01 April 2026, with age relaxation as per Government of India rules for reserved categories. The application fee is Rs.750 for General/OBC/EWS and exempted for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Sarkari Notice 247 advises all aspiring candidates to apply early to avoid last-minute rush. The selection process includes Phase 1 (Prelims - qualifying), Phase 2 (Mains - merit deciding), and Phase 3 (Interview + Group Discussion). Prelims exam is tentatively scheduled for 02-08 August 2026, Mains for 06 September 2026, and Interviews in October-November 2026. The final merit list will be prepared based on combined marks of Mains (250 marks) and Interview (50 marks). SBI PO is highly competitive with selection ratio of less than 0.1%, so candidates should start preparing seriously from now itself if they want to clear this exam.
