UPSC CMS Admit Card 2026 Released — Download Hall Ticket for 1358 Medical Officer Posts

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has formally released the admit card for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2026, bringing cheers to thousands of medical graduates who are aspiring to serve in various central government health services. The CMS examination is one of the most prestigious medical recruitment examinations in India, conducted annually to fill Medical Officer positions in central government hospitals, railways, municipal councils, and other healthcare institutions. Candidates who had successfully registered between 11 March 2026 and 31 March 2026 can now download their hall tickets by visiting the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in or the dedicated online portal upsconline.nic.in.

This year, the recruitment aims to fill a total of 1358 Medical Officer vacancies across various departments. The break-up includes 864 posts for Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub cadre of Central Health Service, 450 posts for Assistant Divisional Medical Officer (ADMO) in Railways, 14 posts for General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) Grade II in NDMS, and 30 posts for General Duty Medical Officer in Various Delhi Municipal Councils. The notification was issued on 11 March 2026, with the application window remaining open for 20 days to allow maximum participation from eligible MBBS graduates across the country.

The eligibility criteria for UPSC CMS 2026 require candidates to hold an MBBS degree from a recognized university, with candidates in their final year of MBBS also eligible to apply provisionally. Registration with the Medical Council of India (now National Medical Commission) or a State Medical Council is mandatory. The maximum age limit is 32 years as on 01.08.2026 for most posts, with relaxations of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates as per government norms. The application fee is ₹200 for General and OBC candidates, while SC/ST/PWD/Female candidates are exempted from fee payment, encouraging wider participation from all sections of society.

The selection process comprises a written examination followed by a personality test (interview). The written exam is conducted in computer-based test mode with two papers — Paper 1 covers General Medicine and Pediatrics (120 questions, 250 marks, 2 hours), while Paper 2 covers Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine (120 questions, 250 marks, 2 hours). There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each incorrect answer. Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for the personality test carrying 100 marks, and the final merit list is prepared based on the combined score of the written exam and personality test. Selected candidates are appointed in Pay Level-10 (₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500) with additional Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) and other admissible benefits.

• Step 1: Visit the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in or the online application portal at upsconline.nic.in using your computer or smartphone
• Step 2: On the home page, locate the "Admit Card" link in the main navigation menu and click on it to access the admit card download section
• Step 3: Select "Combined Medical Services Examination 2026" from the list of active examinations for which admit cards are available
• Step 4: You will be redirected to the login page where you need to enter your Registration ID or Roll Number and Date of Birth
• Step 5: Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen exactly as shown and click on the Submit button to proceed
• Step 6: Your admit card will be displayed on the screen — verify all details including name, photograph, signature, exam centre, and exam date
• Step 7: Download the PDF file and take a clear printout on A4 size paper to carry to the examination centre along with a valid photo ID proof
